Inspiration
Well, my hard drive is failing on my nice computer, so its in the shop. (I am on my trusty, but sloooow, grad school computer). I probably won't be editing photos on this computer because there is just not that much time in a day. Until then, here are a few photographers I have discovered lately that have inspired me.
I found this story, about Vivian Maier, to be beautiful, inspiring and somewhat sad. This woman took thousands and thousands of beautiful street photos in the 50's. Apparently, she just took them for herself (the beautiful, inspiring part), but it looks like she never showed them to anyone, possibly she never even printed them (the somewhat sad part, yet also beautiful because she did her photography just for herself). Here is a link to the blog with some her photos. It is worth scrolling through. Her work is just amazing. Here is a link to a news story about how her photos were discovered.
I also just discovered The Sartorialist, who is well known and influential in the fashion world because of his street fashion street photography. But he takes beautiful street photos. Here you can see a short documentary of how he works, which I found very interesting. I am always so curious about how street photographers work and if they are taking spontaneous photos, or asking their subject first, and if they are posing them in any way. So fascinating to see him work and to realize how intentional he is about his shots. I think the duct taped boots is my favorite.

One photo a day (or week)
In an effort to improve my photography and find beauty in the daily chaos of my life, I want to take one photo a day for the entire year. I have tried this before and found it exhausting and one more thing I was supposed to do. So with that in mind, I am aiming for one to five photos a week (with grace if it doesn't happen).
I hope you will follow me on my journey. I love feedback on my photos, so the comments are open.
Enjoy!
